Tour Plan

Your Stawi Adventures guide will pick you up in Nairobi early morning for the drive to Samburu National Reserve—Kenya’s wild northern gem. The route takes you through fertile central highlands, coffee and tea farms, and past Mount Kenya—Africa’s second-highest peak.

After arriving at your camp or lodge near the Ewaso Nyiro River, enjoy lunch and some rest before your first afternoon game drive. Samburu offers a different safari experience—arid landscapes and endemic species not seen in other parks.

Wildlife Focus:

  • Reticulated giraffe

  • Grevy’s zebra

  • Somali ostrich

  • Beisa oryx

  • Gerenuk (the “giraffe gazelle”)

Enjoy a sundowner before returning to camp for dinner.

Accommodation: Samburu Sopa Lodge / Ashnil Samburu Camp
Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Begin your day with an early sunrise game drive when predators like lions and leopards are most active. Samburu is one of the few places in Kenya where you might spot a leopard stalking the dry riverbeds.

Return to the lodge for a late breakfast and relaxation by the pool or viewing deck. After lunch, head out again for another thrilling game drive or take an optional guided nature walk (depending on lodge location).

Optional cultural activity:

  • Visit a Samburu village to understand the traditions, attire, and daily life of this semi-nomadic tribe, closely related to the Maasai.

Accommodation: Same as Day 1
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located in Laikipia on the equator. This 90,000-acre private wildlife conservancy is a model of conservation success and home to the largest population of black rhinos in East Africa, along with the last two northern white rhinos on Earth.

Check in at your lodge or tented camp, followed by lunch.

Afternoon activities include:

  • A visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see rescued chimps

  • Game drive in search of the Big Five, especially rhinos, lions, and elephants

Optional (pre-booked):

  • Night game drive for nocturnal animals like aardvarks, bat-eared foxes, and porcupines

Accommodation: Sweetwaters Serena Camp / The Stables Ol Pejeta
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Enjoy a final game drive at Ol Pejeta before departing toward the Great Rift Valley. The drive to Lake Nakuru National Park winds through highland farms, forests, and scenic escarpments.

Upon arrival, settle into your lodge and then head out for a late afternoon game drive around Lake Nakuru. This park is famed for:

  • Large populations of white and black rhinos

  • Massive flocks of flamingos (seasonal)

  • Tree-climbing lions

  • Rothschild giraffes

Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Lodge / Flamingo Hill Tented Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Spend the day exploring the park's rich wildlife and birdlife. Morning and afternoon game drives will take you across the lake’s shores, acacia woodlands, and grasslands.

Expect to see:

  • Waterbucks, impalas, warthogs

  • Large buffalo herds and possibly elusive leopards

  • Over 450 species of birds including pelicans, herons, and fish eagles

Optional: Guided walking safari outside park boundary or scenic picnic lunch at Baboon Cliff viewpoint.

Accommodation: Same as Day 4
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi (approx. 3–4 hours). You can choose to:

  • Be dropped at your hotel

  • Connect directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)

  • Request optional tour add-ons such as:

    • Giraffe Centre

    • Elephant Orphanage (Sheldrick Trust)
