Tour Plan
Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport by your Stawi Adventures professional safari guide. After introductions and a short briefing, you'll drive through the Great Rift Valley, stopping for panoramic views and photo opportunities along the escarpment.
After a scenic 5–6 hour drive (with a lunch stop en route), you’ll arrive at your comfortable mid-range safari lodge just outside the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
In the late afternoon, head out for your first game drive inside the Mara. As the golden hour sets in, keep your eyes peeled for elephants, giraffes, zebras, and—if lucky—a pride of lions preparing for an evening hunt.
Accommodation: Jambo Mara Safari Lodge (or equivalent)
Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner
Wake up early for a sunrise game drive inside the Maasai Mara. The first light of day creates magical silhouettes of wildlife, and predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas are often active after a night’s hunt.
Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some downtime. You can enjoy optional activities like:
-
Guided nature walk around the camp
-
Cultural visit to a nearby Maasai village
-
Photography and birdwatching in the lodge’s lush surroundings
After lunch, set out again for your sunset game drive, one of the best times to witness elephants bathing, hippos grunting by the river, or even a cheetah surveying the plains.
Wildlife to Expect: Lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, over 400 bird species
Accommodation: Jambo Mara Safari Lodge
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today offers the opportunity to explore deeper into the Maasai Mara. After an early breakfast, pack your lunch and spend the entire day out in the reserve.
Explore different ecological zones—from open grasslands to riverine forests. Your guide will help track the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo), and you may come across dramatic wildlife scenes like predator-prey interactions, playful elephant calves, or a family of cheetahs.
If traveling between July and October, you’ll likely witness part of the Great Wildebeest Migration, a dramatic and chaotic display of survival involving millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles crossing rivers teeming with crocodiles.
Enjoy your picnic lunch near the Mara River, then continue your adventure until late afternoon before heading back to camp.
Accommodation: Jambo Mara Safari Lodge
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch (picnic), Dinner
On your final day, head out at dawn for one last game drive, soaking in the beauty of the Mara one more time. Early mornings often offer the best chance of spotting leopards and lions before the heat of the day sets in.
After breakfast, check out from your lodge and begin your drive back to Nairobi. You'll arrive in the late afternoon and be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your hotel.
